Celebrating its first semester in the vibrant Brussels setting,
Gallery Nosco is delighted to announce the representation of Brasilian artist
Caio Marcolini (b.1985) and its forthcoming lineup of both,
On Site and Off Site Exhibitions, along with Art Fairs for the upcoming semester.

The gallery's unwavering dedication extends not only to its roster of represented artists but also to emerging talents, exemplifying a steadfast devotion to fostering cultural interchange. Through the facilitation of impactful artist dialogues, the gallery endeavors to unify conceptualism, artistic approaches, political terrains, and cultural chronicles, thus knitting together the diverse fabric of contemporary art.

Gallery Nosco is pleased to announce the European and US representation of
Caio Marcolini (1985, Brazil).

Caio Marcolini creates metal sculptures through an idiosyncratic weaving technique that pays homage to traditional one loop weaving techniques. With intricate gestures, he shapes the wire little by little until he creates precise forms between abstraction and realism.

Off Site London Exhibition // Big Mama Thornton

Gallery Nosco returns to London with a group exhibition during Frieze week with:
Isabelle.D / Januario Jano / Epheas Maposa
Caio Marcolini / Georgina Maxim / Paulo Nazareth / Sofia Yala

The exhibition takes its name after the well-acclaimed Blues song writter and Singer, Big Mama Thornton, an innovative artist who was the first to record iconic songs like “Hound Dog” and “Ball and Chain.” Unfortunately, her contributions were not properly credited nor rewarded when these songs later gained immense popularity through cover versions by Elvis Presley and Janis Joplin. The exhibition aims to draw a poignant parallel with the issue of abuse in our contemporary society, shedding light on overlooked voices and emphasizing the importance of giving credit where it is due.

Through an array of artworks, ‘Big Mama Thornton’ seeks to spark conversations about cultural appropriation, recognition, and the impact of historical injustices on today’s world.

From the 08th - 15th October - Reception and artist's tour Friday 13th from 18.00
67 Great Titchfield Street, W1W 7PT, London

The Geometric Abstraction art movement is a significant and influential genre that emerged in the early 20th century, characterized by the use of geometric shapes, lines, and forms to create non-representational artworks. Rejecting the representational nature of traditional art, artists embraced abstraction as a means to explore pure visual elements and convey emotions through simple form and color. The movement sought to distill reality to its fundamental essence, with artists often employing symmetry, precision, and mathematical principles to achieve visual harmony. Geometric Abstraction has left a lasting impact, inspiring artists to experiment with new visual languages and paving the way for future abstract movements.
